Happy Halloween, Day of the Dead, and Samhain!
This time of year has special significance to me because of my Celtic roots. I feel attuned to this Holiday we know as Halloween or Day of the Dead, but called “Samhain” by the ancient Celtics for several reasons. Besides my DNA that includes 11 different parts or Europe which makes me naturally attuned to this holiday and all other Celtic Holidays, the main reason, was the annual Good Medicine mask making workshops that I attended with one of my Mentors Deanna (R.I.P.) who was a graduate of the Berkeley Psychic Institute.
Every year for about 10 years, I would travel to her house to make my “Good Medicine Mask". This was a enriching ritual and after some years had past, I became her assistant. When I decided not to travel for the annual workshop, I began creating the “Good Medicine Mask” in paintings instead of mask making.
The meditation journey was simple and very healing. First we would follow the drum beat to the “Earth Plane” and enter into the Earth plane via a tree, with an animal, or through a hole in the ground. Here we discovered our power animals for the year. We would then journal and rest. After a bit, we would again follow the drum beat to the “Sky Plane" or “Heaven Plane” as I call it to receive messages from the Ancestors and Ascended Beings like Jesus, Buddha, and Arch Angels.
After Journaling and Resting again, we would then follow the drum beat to receive decoration ideas, and then to Name our Mask for the year.
Here are some pictures of “Good Medicine Mask Paintings” that I've made over the years. In the Modern World, these would be like a vision board in the form of a Mask Painting made with the Intention of bringing forth Positive Circumstances for yourself and others. This is also called Intentional Creativity.
